UK 2009
Silverstone - 11th July
At the end 1960/1 season a green coloured Big Healey UJB 143 ended
its Works Racing career having been one of three cars sent to America
for the Sebring races after which it was driven at Le Mans by Peter
Riley and Jack Sears. A newly prepared red rally car was urgently
needed for the Midnight Sun Rally in Sweden. To be driven also by
Peter Riley and Tony Ambrose. Read all about this fascinating story
by clicking on UJB 143 History.
Both of the UJB cars are to meet for the first time at Silverstone
for a photo shoot together with Peter Riley, Jack Sears and John
Chatham who has owned the green car (now registered as DD 300) and
campaigned it for many years including two further Le Mans races
whilst in the ownership of David Dixon.

The red and green cars are accompanied by drivers that had previously
taken part in the John Gott Memorial Trophy Race, which formed part
of a spectacular weekend of racing at Silverstone together with
the largest number of MGs ever seen together, celebrating the 50th
Birthday of the first production Healey 3000.
Goodwood
- 3rd - 5th July
For the fifth year appearance at the Goodwood
Festival of Speed you will be able to see 569 FMO, the famous
Mini Cooper S driven by Rauno Aaltonen in what many
people consider to have been the most important rally of all time,
the 1964 (Jack the giant killer) Monte Carlo Rally, won outright
by Paddy Hopkirk in 33 EJB together with 570 FMO and 569 FMO winning
the Team Prize for BMC.
This year Rauno was joined by Will Young who had never been in
a rally car before. He appeared quite nervous at the start but afterwards
said that he had never enjoyed himself so much and was kept busy
signing autographs including some of the officials. Rauno clocked
up his fastest time of the day with a 2min 55sec.
